The Clone: A Futuristic Science-Horror Story

A bizarre time-space vehicle speeds through the star systems towards earth. Jensen, an imperfect soldier-clone, has been sent on an exploratory mission to earth. He receives his commands from Gerrian, prime ruler of AMATOS 3, a distant planetoid in the Virgo A galaxy. Jensen’s orders are received in graphic visual displays that are contained within the helmet surrounding his head. This visual information provides the clone with exact coordinates in the new galaxy. The space vehicle enters earth’s environment and targets towards Europe.

AMATOS 3 is an advanced society, which is dependent on the use of clones to perform special functions. Jensen was created as the 55th clone of Gerrian, but certain accidents took place during his physical formation. The cloning apparatus malfunctioned, causing various biochemical inconsistencies in Jensen’s structure. When a clone becomes imperfect on AMATOS 3, it is selected for exploratory duty. All inhabitants of AMATOS 3 live at an accelerated rate. This rate exceeds our human biological and planetary speed by 102,making Jensen and his ship invisible to our eyes. Jensen is equipped with a device that is wrapped around his wrist and which allows him to complement his bodily rate with that of any planet he explores. The controlling population of AMATOS 3 values all life forms, and the law will not sanction arbitrary elimination. Consequently, when life is not properly formed, it is sent on missions of impossible task and duration. Jensen is on this kind of mission, and is being hyperspace monitored by Gerrian and the AMATOS 3 scientific community. Jensen resembles a human being except for his clothing, enlarged head structure, and green eyes. Standing upright, he is two meters tall, and is totally devoid of hair. Jensen has the physical power of five earth people in our atmosphere. He can understand and read our thoughts and uses more than 25% of his brain. Jensen is programmed with specific scientific abilities in organic chemistry. Although his body is composed of dolomite, neon, oxygen, and magnesium carbonate, in appearance, he can pass for an earthling.

The Air Force tracks an object moving at incredible speed and it appears as tiny particle images on various western Pacific radar screens. An automatic alert sounds, but the technicians in charge read the recorded image as “Impossible Object Entrance,” and they file the information in a computer.

Jensen’s ship lands in a winter fog bank on a southern European coast. The ship appears as a translucent glowing red ball, which becomes visible as the propellant it uses begins to cool. Jensen steps down to the beach dressed in a flowing magenta robe. He adjusts a device on his arm by pressing the first button that controls his own bodily functions, changing his skin color from red to off-white. As he presses a second button, the ship turns dark red and disappears in a display of counter-geographical spinning motions.

Jensen’s primary motivation on earth is exploration, and so he begins searching for available information. As he walks down the beach, he confronts a fisherman casting a line into the soft surf. The fisherman’s casting motion slows down in ever-decreasing forward movement. Jensen adjusts his wrist-device as he approaches the fisherman. He undresses the frozen man and places the fisherman’s clothing on his body.

During the early part of Jensen’s travels, he confronts one normal situation after another. As soon as he analyzes each one separately, he continues gathering information. He discovers a new personal power, which attracts most earth females to his eyes. He doesn’t understand their obvious desire for him, but allows himself the flexibility necessary to deal with their desires. He settles in a small English country town and eventually finds a young woman and falls deeply in love. She is overcome by the enormous power of his intellect and gentility of his sensitive lovemaking. His female friend takes Jensen to a rock-type music concert where several different people die in a horrific manner. The crowd concentrates on the concert while ten young people are murdered by having their hearts physically ripped out of their bodies. Jensen’s girlfriend is also killed during the performance. The local town constable can’t handle the case, so the county authorities decide to bring in a renowned police inspector from Edinburgh.

The countryside becomes wild with fear and quickly it spreads to every town in England. No one is safe anywhere; there isn’t a secure place to live while Jensen is present. The inspector has found Jensen through chance and the analysis of several news videotape recordings. The video news reports were recorded in York, which has been under constant attack by the killer. Jensen is questioned by the police and released after several psychological tests are administered. The tester is puzzled by Jensen, but accepts him as a local eccentric. The inspector calls for a complete examination of Jensen after certain evidence convinces him of his guilt, but Jensen disappears.

Jensen gets on a plane headed for the Phoenix, Arizona airport, U.S.A. During the flight, several people die from what is later reported as the “Heart Ripping Murders.” The report in the New York Times reads, “A Boeing 757 landed at Phoenix airport today with five mutilated bodies aboard. Each body had a hole in the chest area above the heart, which was large enough for a human hand to enter. Around the hole there was evidence of burn marks, as if a laser beam of some sort had entered the chest area and extracted the heart while the victim remained active. There is no evidence of pain, but each victim’s face experienced unusual stress levels prior to demise. It was reported by other passengers that the victim died in split-second panic. It was not clear if the police were able to uncover any weapons or evidence of motive. Authorities are cross-checking with English computers to establish a pattern to these 31 murders.”

Jensen takes a rural bus ride to a small town outside of Phoenix. Nothing eventful happens inside the bus, except for the usual casual western conversations. Jensen takes a job as a short-order cook in a café, trying to keep a low profile. Two people are killed by the usual heart ripping murders in this small town. A Phoenix detective begins tracking Jensen as the only possible source of the killings, after communicating with the Scottish inspector by Television Conference Police Satellite, the Phoenix detective and his partner try to capture Jensen. However, their hearts are ripped from their bodies by something in Jensen’s room. Jensen realizes that an imperfect structure has been formed from the earth environment, which has power enough in itself at this point to destroy its creator. Jensen escapes death in his first battle with the invisible creature. After he is chased for several hours by the creature, he finds secure sanctuary. He is contacted directly by brain communication from his creators, ordering him to take “actions necessary!” The message from the creators on AMATOS 3 give him an exact course of action. Jensen becomes emotional and destroys the flat where he’s been living. He starts hunting the monster, which he discovers is an imperfect formation caused by an intermittence of earth elements with his chemical composition.

After Jensen forces a confrontation with the monster in a desert area, he accelerates his body back to normal AMATOS 3 speed for the forthcoming flight. He battles this imperfect formation or monster for total control of the functioning system or brain. Jensen destroys the monster after a terrible battles of forces created by both the monster and himself. The imperfect clone formation is slain, but as it dies, its accelerated speed is slowed down, showing us a hideous brown-gray miscreation.

He is worn out from the battle as he slowly walks back to the town on a deserted dirt road. Gerrian, his creator and ruler of AMATOS 3, appears on the road in front of him. Gerrian presses a button on a device wrapped around his hand, which stops Jensen immediately as if he were instantly frozen. A massive colored phenomenon implodes around Jensen.

Another time-space vehicle appears as two soldier-clones step down. They walk over to Jensen and grab his frozen body, transporting it into the ship. Gerrian looks around him and smiles as he opens his green eyes. He steps into the ship after Jensen. The vehicle disappears into space as another group of radar people track another spot of dust on their screen.
